Am 23.10. – wenige Tage vor der Landtagswahl - veranstalten wir auf dem 
Frauenplan eine diverse und laute Kundgebung für ein demokratisches und 
freundliches Miteinander. Wir möchten euch herzlich einladen mitzumachen 
und teilzunehmen.

Am 27.10 ist die Landtagswahl in Thüringen. In der Woche davor - vom 
19.10. - 26.10.2019 findet in Weimar die Veranstaltungs- und 
Kundgebungsreihe „Platz für Demokratie“ statt. In diesem Zeitraum 
möchten wir und viele andere Menschen in Weimar an den Stellenwert der 
Demokratie in unserer Gesellschaft erinnern und werden deshalb täglich 
einen öffentlichen Platz der Stadt Weimar mit Leben und Programm füllen.
Am Mittwoch den 23.10. werden wir, die IfF (Initiative für 
Freundlichkeit – ein Weimar ohne Grenzen, ehemals Initiative für 
Flüchtlinge), von 14 – 22 Uhr am Frauenplan sein. Unter dem Motto 
„Demokratie is(s)t - Tanzen und Salat“ möchten wir mit euch Salat 
schnippeln, Tee trinken, uns mit euch austauschen, diskutieren und, sehr 
wichtig, tanzen. Hierbei treten wir für eine demokratische Gesellschaft 
- frei von Rassismus - gegen rechte Ausgrenzungspraktiken- und Tendenzen 
ein und möchten daran erinnern, dass bei der kommenden Landtagswahl 
viele Menschen von dem Ergebnis der Wahl betroffen sind, ohne wählen zu 
dürfen. Wir beziehen klar Stellung gegen eine anti-demokratische Politik 
und setzten uns ein für Demokratie, Menschlichkeit, Kultur-Freiheit und 
ein weltoffenes Thüringen.

Programm:

14:00 – 17:30 Uhr: Gemeinsames Salatzubereiten und Essen. Alle sind 
eingeladen mitzumachen und mit uns zu essen. Wir werden uns um die 
Basics, wie Salatköpfe, Möhren, Paprika, Gurken, Öl und Essig kümmern – 
bringt jedoch gerne die Zutaten mit, die für euch im Salat nicht fehlen 
dürfen. Wir sorgen auch für warme Getränke!

Margarita García wird das gemeinsame Salat zubereiten, angelehnt an eine 
von ihr entwickelten Performance eröffnen. Dazu schreibt sie:

"Salad is the perfect metaphor for democracy. We are all tossed together 
in the same bowl - and each ingredient (wherever it has come from and no 
matter how ordinary or exotic) needs to work together - sometimes with 
the help of some lubricant like oil. My previous performance: Reflecting 
the Border, which installed a 10m mirror and table on the US/Mexico 
border wall, invited participants to discuss issues of integration and 
society and reflect on alternate possibilities to walls between people 
while sharing a carefully designed meal"

16:00 Uhr: Gesprächsrunde mit Menschen mit und ohne Fluchterfahrung und 
mit und ohne Wahlrecht. Diskussion über die Sicht auf die erlebte 
Demokratie in Deutschland und die Teilhabe an ihr.

18:00 – 22:00 Uhr: Nacht-Tanz-Demo: Wir möchten mit euch die 
demokratischen Grundwerte laut und friedfertig feiern und gegen rechte 
und rechtsextreme Ausgrenzungstendenzen antanzen. Lasst uns die 
demokratischen Grundwerte feiern!

On Wednesday, the 23rd of October – just a few days before the regional 
elections – we will be hosting a loud and diverse rally to celebrate our 
democratic and kind way of life. We hereby invite you to join us and 
participate in our festivites.
Regional elections in Thuringia are set to take place on October 27th. 
During the week before, from October 19th until the 26th, a series of 
events, rallies and demonstrations, called „Platz für Demokratie“ 
(English: Space for Democracy) will take place. In this period, we and 
many other people of Weimar would like to remind everybody of the value 
that democracy holds in our society and thus will liven up specific 
public spaces in Weimar with a different planned program every day.

On October 23rd, the IfF (Initiative for Friendliness – a Weimar without 
Borders) will be present on Frauenplan from 2 – 10pm. Under the Motto 
“Lettuce celebrate Democracy – Salad and Dancing” we want to cut some 
veggies with you, have some tea, some conversations, discussions, and, 
most important of all, we want to dance. Through this, we want to take a 
stand for a democratic society – free of racism, and excluding practices 
– and we want to remind everybody that so many people who do not have a 
say in the coming elections will be affected by them. We are speaking 
out against anti-democratic politics and in favor of democracy, 
humanity, cultural liberty and an open Thuringia

Program:

2-5:30pm: Communal Cooking and Eating. Everybody is invited to join us. 
We will be taking care of the basics like lettuce, carrots, peppers, 
cucumbers, oil and vinegar and you guys can bring any extra ingredients 
you want to see in your salad. We will also be providing hot beverages.

4pm: Panel Discussion: Refugees and other residents of Weimar will be 
discussing how democracy is lived within Germany and who gets to 
participate in it.

6-10pm: Dancing Demonstration: We want to celebrate democratic values 
and make a move against right-wing as well as far right tendencies.
