The department has the task of establishing the flow of information between the student representatives in the student councils, the StuKo, the university committees and the general student body, as well as communicating the work of the committees to the public. The position of a press spokesperson for the StuKo can be filled within the department. The department acts as support for the StuKo Executive Board towards the public in urgent matters.

It also bears the main responsibility for the StuKo website (m18.uni-weimar.de) and the StuKo Instagram channel (@stuko_bauhaus).
